Proposition A Update: Bill Passes to Repeal Paid Sick Leave
On Wednesday, May 14, the Missouri Senate officially passed House Bill 567 (HB 567) and now it goes to Governor Mike Kehoe’s desk for final approval.
Minimum Wage Adjustment
The planned increase in Missouri’s minimum wage to $15 per hour will remain in effect as scheduled on January 1, 2026. HB 567 does eliminate the automatic annual increases previously tied to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Any future minimum wage adjustments will require legislative review and approval.
Repeal of Mandatory Paid Sick Leave
HB 567 repeals the mandated Paid Sick Leave provision passed during the November election. The repeal will allow businesses to continue to manage leave policies according to their individual practices without additional state mandates.
If signed by Governor Kehoe as expected, HB 567 will become law on August 28, 2025.
Please note that the paid sick leave law will remain in effect May 1, 2025, through August 28, 2025 until HB 567 goes into effect. Employers should continue to comply with the law until the repeal is effective August 28, 2025.
