ARTIST STATEMENT | ALICIA FARRIS loves to share her knowledge and passion of painting by teaching workshops and classes in Springfield and throughout the Midwest. She finds that her students not only inspire her, but they energize her in her work, an extra bonus to getting to teach what she loves! Farris enjoys interpreting her subject matter with a “loose” and lively style, trying to capture emotion, shapes and light that spark her imagination. She encourages her students to learn techniques and great design elements while nurturing their own artistic style. Farris loves seeing her students advance in their journeys, many of whom have been painting with her for as long as she has been teaching and have blossomed into successful and confident artists!
Alicia’s work has won numerous awards and has been exhibited in galleries and private collections all over the country. She recently received signature status in the internationally renowned National Watercolor Society located in San Pedro, California. Farris’ awards include those won in juried competitions of the St. Louis Watercolor Society, Missouri Watercolor Society, Missouri Valley Impressionists Society, Southwestern Watercolor Society, and many more. She was accepted into the 40th Western Federation of Watercolor Societies Exhibit, which represented top work from 11 different watercolor societies throughout 9 states.
