QuickBooks Desktop Sunset
Effective July 31, 2024
Since several of our clients use QuickBooks Desktop, we want to make you aware of an important change Intuit QuickBooks has been working toward for some time.
Message from Intuit QuickBooks below:
“As of July 31, 2024, consumers will no longer be able to purchase QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus, QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus or QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced unless they have a current existing annual subscription. QuickBooks Desktop switched to an annual subscription model for releases starting in 2022; therefore, if consumers are using a QuickBooks Pro or Premier version prior to 2022, consumers will not be able to upgrade after July 31, 2024. If consumers are using an older version and choose not to upgrade prior to the sunset date, the software should continue to work for an unknown period of time. It is important for consumers to understand that Intuit will not provide security updates, product updates or provide any type of support for these outdated versions.”
Another important note is that if the computer that houses the QuickBooks Desktop file fails and a new download of the software is required, it is possible that clients will not be able to install the older version on a new computer.
Please note that QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise products are not impacted by this change and clients can continue to purchase Enterprise subscriptions after July 31, 2024.
- Pricing for QuickBooks Pro Plus, single-user begins at $649 and must be renewed annually.
- Pricing for QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, single-user begins at $1,185 and must be renewed annually.
