Art Exhibit featuring Artist Susie K. Sharpe, MD
Medical doctor, musician and artist, we’re thrilled to feature local art from Dr. Susie Sharpe from May – August!
As seen here and featured in the May Art Walk, Dr. Sharpe’s large acrylic piece, “Beautiful Monarchs,” focuses on the close-up majesty of these butterflies. The News-Leader’s article on “Exhibit on C-Street celebrates the Monarch butterfly” hightlighted the May Art Walk.
Her artist statement shares her background in the arts:
“Art was my first passion since my childhood. I’ve been painting for years whenever I can find time, while practicing medicine as a physician at Mercy.
I seek beauty, truth and simplicity everywhere. I try to portray these in my art, with great passion.
I am also passionate about classical music, especially about violin and piano. Many of my paintings reflect my love of music.
I am an artist and a musician at heart. Medicine is a healing art, rewarding career and is my service to the world. I witness a lot of pain and suffering as a physician. I try to seek beauty and meaning through arts.” ~ Susie K. Sharpe, MD
